  Welcome to Forests & Environment Department  
    The Forests & Environment Department forms the policy for the conservation of the forest, protection of the Wildlife and the Environment in the Sate of Gujarat. There are 4 National parks, 23 sanctuaries, 1 conservation reserve. 18,962 km2 area of the state is covered with the forest. The department is into policy planning of the flora & fauna of the state and also in implementation of all the Acts related to forest i.e. The Forest Conservation Act. 1980, The Indian Forest Acts,1927, The Wildlife (Protection) Act., 1972 and Environment related matters including The Environment (Protection) Act. 1986, which is an umbrella Act on Environment.
